Bulgarian for Foreigners

Study in BG is one of the first language schools, specializing in teaching Bulgarian as a foreign language. Over the years we have had the pleasure of working with many different people who have chosen to start their language training with us. They start studying Bulgarian for different reasons, have you, just like them, studied Bulgarian, but you are eager to learn more and become more fluent?

Bulgaria is your home, temporary or permanent, or you live abroad, but are interested in learning the language? Or maybe you have friends, relatives or colleagues who are foreigners and want to feel more independent and to communicate without limitations or concerns? We have the knowledge and experience it takes to address your specific needs in the context of language training!

Types of training in Bulgarian for foreigners

We offer five different types of language training: individual lessons, group language training, corporate training, specialized courses, and exam preparation. To find out more about them, click on the respective section.

Training Format

Currently, the training format is primarily online. We also offer live training at a location of the client’s choice, such as their office.

Levels of Training

When developing our own teaching materials and planning a certain course we always use the guidelines set out in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The training is divided in modules, each of them corresponds to the CEFR levels. Before enrolling on a course with us, your level will also be validated by a specialist during an online consultation meeting, free of charge.

The time, which is necessary for covering every of the different levels and moving on to the next one can vary, it depends on many factors: mother tongue of the student and their previous experience in language learning, whether they have chosen individual classes or group training, whether they are following an intensive or an extensive learning programme, the amount of time devoted to self-studies, personal motivation, etc.

The recommended number of hours for the different levels in Bulgarian as a foreign language are:

• А1 – 100 study hours
• А2 – 100 study hours
• В1 – 250 study hours
• В2 – 200 study hours
• С1 – 200 study hours
• С2 -200 study hours

As we already mentioned, this is only the recommended number of hours and they include work with a teacher and self-studies, which is why they can vary significantly due to intensive and effective self-studies.

Our team has not only developed the programmes for the different types of trainings, but we have also a variety of teaching materials, that we have developed especially for our students: wordlists, tables, explanations of the most important grammar aspects and many authentic texts for listening and reading for the different levels.
